What is the cause of your pain?


Everyone has suffered some form of abdominal pain. Ranging from gas and indigestion to more serious ailments like appendicitis, abdominal pain has a variety of causes and finding the cause can be difficult. This is especially true in children. For example, children may complain of a “tummy ache,” but this could be an indication of any number of physical issues including blockages, a viral or bacterial infection, food poisoning, food allergies or reactions, insect bites, appendicitis. These same symptoms can also be the result of anxiety or stress.


  • Stabbing pain
  • Cramping or a dull ache in the abdomen
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Extreme discomfort
  • Restlessness
  • Fever (occasionally)
  • In children: pale appearance, refusal to eat, drink, or play

The following symptoms can indicate specific ailments:

    • Vague pain spanning from middle of belly to right hip: appendicitis
    • Groin pain: blood supply issue in testicles or ovaries
    • Urinary problems: infection
    • Diarrhea: virus
